The museum collection of fans is one of the largest in Ukraine. It always attracts visitors' particular attention. Probably reason it that there is no woman who did not
fancy herself as a highborn lady in magnificent dress is her youth. And now we sometimes miss
those old times of cheerful balls, infinite festivities and masquerades where courtier beauties drew everybody's attention and lady without a fan felt awkward as well as her cavalier without a sword.
The show-window in the museum of personal collections helps everyone to be transferred to children's dreams again. Many various fans are gathered in the museum showcases. There are Russian, Oriental, and European ones among them and they are made of the most diverse materials. Magnificent ostrich feathers are exhibited beside refined modest horn plates and noble ivory, golden tortoise-shell is in the neighborhood of the finest laces and painted fabrics. Even severe and practical men are filled with admiration over this beauty and recall the Orient with envy, where each inhabitant uses a fan irrespective of sexes.
